1-register your own domain (www.example.com) with any domain registration company like , bluehost , host gator , host monster , Go Daddy …
2-purchase a hosting account, this will host your website files on the internet , from any hosting company like , imotion , ipage, blue host, but make sure before purchasing the hosting plan if it meets your requirement or not ,this means that every hosting company has its own feature like storage capacity , bandwidth limit , database support , windows or Linux type hosting.
3-setup your hosting account with your domain using the hosting setup panel provided by the hosting company , i prefer that , you buy the hosting and the domain form the same provider , without transferring your domain to the hosting company.
4-after your hosting account fished setup it normally in most of hosting companies it takes up to 24 hours , for the hosting to finish setup , now the hosting provider will give you FTP (files transferring protocol ) account which you can log into using the ftp soft wares , like WS_ftp , smart ftp , cute ftp , core ftp …, then now you can upload and download the files to your website
5-now you should make your mind what is the type of the website that you want to start , ex; blogging using word press , portal using CMS (content management systems ) like Joomla , Drupal , Xoops ..etc , these software are ready to be installed on your website ,most of the hosting providers , provides it from inside hosting panel ,so you can install them from the hosting panel , or if this feature is not found , you can download the script manually , and upload it to your website and install it by your self .
6-if you want to design your website by self using any website design software ,like front page , Dreamweaver , then after you finish your design ,you need to upload your files to the website using FTP.
